Head Vases: Not Just for Flowers

Head Vases: Not Just for Flowers

Head vases – vintage ceramic vases styled like a woman’s head – are very 1950s. They are also very popular with vintage collectors. (Dita von Teese has several, as seen in her formerly-pink kitchen and breakfast nook. Mosh also appears to be a fan.) There are even collector’s guides.

I finally found a head vase I really like, but have never used it to hold flowers. I can’t have real flowers in my living space because my cats will eat them. (One of them got into my storage closet, ripped through a cardboard box AND a plastic bag, pulled out my dried prom corsage, and ATE IT. My other cat slowly ate all the potted plants in my kitchen.)

But what if there was more than one way to use a head vase?

Here’s what I’ve come up with. Share YOUR ideas in the comments!

Pincushion

It works for makeup brushes, too. (If the handles are too short, stuff some cotton balls in the bottom. It worked for this shot, anyway.)
