My last post concerned Knott’s Preserved, a book I recommend highly for anyone wanting to revisit Old Southern California.
Today, I’m sharing one of my most prized vintage theme park souvenirs: a Knott’s Berry Farm souvenir guidebook from the early ’40s. My grandmother mailed this to my grandfather when they were still teenagers.
I even have the original envelope. (The book is on top of it to conceal my grandfather’s address. He’s long gone, but I do still have family in the area.)
Remember when the park looked like this?
Scenes from Ghost Town.
Before GPS – and before Independence Hall.
This was tucked inside the back cover. Grandma must have bought it from the gift shop.
Ditto this one. I won’t comment on how strictly Grandma kept certain commandments…
